Mozilla Hive’s “Emoti-Con” festival of youth technology at the New York Public Library

It was a big day for many youth technologists in New York as they came together for Mozilla Hive’s Emoti-Con, a festival of their own inventions, creations, and potential. Think science fair meets conference meets day of play, and you have this special event that takes place every year at the New York Public Library’s famed Celeste Bartos Theater. The Lower Eastside Girls Club, where Arlene is a mentor and physical computing teacher, showed its architectural model for the “Coderpillar,” a real caterpillar-themed staircase on the Girls Club roof that will soon host a cylindrical display of interactive RGB LED lights. For this, the Girls Club was awarded Most Innovative! Arlene was also honored as a keynote speaker for the event.
