Public libraries are one of the biggest sources of free, open Internet access, but few library patrons have a basic grounding in securing their own personal data. Arlene is working with Bex Hurwitz, Bex’s team at Research Action Design (RAD), and the Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) to develop and teach Data Privacy workshops for BPL librarians, so that these librarians can disseminate best practices to their own patrons and library branches.

These trainings are part of a larger data privacy project spearheaded by Seeta Peña Gangadharan of the London School of Economics, Melissa Morrone of BPL, and others. For more information, please visit dataprivacyproject.org.
