Are you a musician with a passion for noir-inspired jazz music? Do you have a neighbor or friend who loves to wail on their saxophone? Have you passed by a saxophonist in your area and thought, ‘wow, they’re really good!”
We’re looking for a saxophone player with improv chops for our upcoming animated, neo-noir film, “The Prototype.” Set in a fictionalized version of New York in the 1990s, “The Prototype” delves into the origin story of Nadia, one of the villains from the sci-fi animation series, “The Great Tit is a Bird.”
We seek a saxophonist who can play a 90-minute, paid and credited session, improvising on works like:
- John Coltrane’s Love Supreme
- 80s pop songs Careless Whisper, Smooth Operator, Maneater, and She Works Hard for the Money
- Getachew Mekurya’s Ethiopian jazz songs
If you are or know of a saxophonist, fill out this Google form and we’ll reach out to schedule a jam session.
March 3rd Public Talk

Ar Ducao, La’Tonia Merica, Bryné Hadnott, and Mia Tetrault talked about the latest updates on “The Great Tit is a Bird”, our sci-fi arthouse animation series that explores issues we’ve witnessed firsthand in academic spaces: race and gender-based harassment, research misconduct, and institutional betrayal.
