🌈 PRIDE EVENT 🏳️⚧️
DuKode hosted an NYC Summer Youth Employment Program Pride event on August 8th. Thanks to NYC Department of Youth and Community Development and Children’s Arts & ScienceWorkshops, Inc., LGBTQ+ Youth were able to experience for themselves creative tech career exploration. The attendees were able to meet LGBTQ+ game devs, 3D animators, AR/VR/XR designers, synth composers, and much more!
We welcomed the event’s panelists:
Margaret Lin, A digital pop culture strategist, cozy game designer, and K-pop enthusiast who grew Vanity Fair’s TikTok to 1M followers. With experience across tech, design, and media, they now create playful, story-rich games like Trinkets!, a crow-themed multiplayer party game featured in AAPI in Gaming and Patch Magazine.
Austin John, A Chicago-born electronic musician and Yale graduate in African American Studies and Art History. Based in NYC, they work at YouTube Music and as a resident at Synth Library NYC, expanding access to electronic music for BIPOC and nonbinary/femme artists, and curate shows at Below Grand Gallery.
Inga Raschka, A CalArts-trained animator from Manhattan whose surreal, sex-positive, and anti-narrative works draw from early CGI and 90s animation. She’s created for Adult Swim, the BBC, Netflix, and Cartoon Network, blending humor and existential themes in her experimental storytelling.
Delaney Benstead, A Brooklyn-based audio engineer and Synth Library NYC Artist-in-Residence focused on building synths, coding audio plugins, and creating open-access educational materials. Formerly an engineer in Boston, he’s now developing a free video series to teach music tech to diverse learners.
Jin, A trans queer Korean-American animator and educator whose hybrid animation style explores identity, gender, and human connection. Their award-winning films have screened internationally, and they’ve taught at SVA, MassArt, and RISD, with features on Cartoon Brew and Catsuka.
Kudos to our summer intern Amelie Pollack, who helped run the event.
