In this 2026 NYC Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) Career Exploration Event, a panel of justice-impacted LGBTQ+ folks and justice-impacted women will present their work from DuKode’s Biometrics & Cartoons Workshop Series, in which biometric devices and data were used to create new animations and art.

While this event prioritizes LGBTQ+ youth interested in creative technology, we welcome all community members interested in how biometrically-driven algorithms, artificial intelligence, and surveillance affect creators of color.

ACCOLADE UPDATES

THE GREAT TIT IS A BIRD’s film DEMO DAY won Best Sci-Fi Film at the Canada Black Screen Awards. Thanks to new DuKode associate member Shiann Croft for accepting the award on DuKode’s behalf!

DEMO DAY is an official selection of the Kwanzaa Film Festival, and an award finalist in South Africa’s Mpumalanga International Film Festival. DEMO DAY’s also a finalist in the Los Angeles Fantasy Fest, which will be held on November 20-21. If you’re in the LA area and want to attend, please let us know!
